DANCE
I have been dancing since I was a little over five years old, starting out with traditional Chinese folk dances (Dai, Mongolian, etc) but more recently focusing on ballet, contemporary, and modern dance. Throughout the years, I think I have learned more from dancing than anything else I have done in my life. While I typically enjoyed hobbies that kept me intellectually engaged and challenged, dance was mostly physical. I value it for allowing me to experience the adrenaline rush of performing, while also conditioning my mental strength and grit through its neverending cycle of ways to improve. In these ways, dance has pushed me to my mental and physical limits, where I believe I learned the most about myself through how I dealt with those challenges. I will always be grateful for the lessons, friendships, and connections dance has taught me.
